Well, hello there! My name’s Marissa, and I’m a self-confessed computer geek and science lover who is passionate about getting kids into STEM. I’m a qualified primary school teacher and computer scientist, and I have to admit, I got really excited when I heard the gossip about making coding and programming a compulsory part of the curriculum for all of our students, from reception onwards. I think it’s a fantastic skill to have, and opens up a world of opportunities for our young people! At the same time I couldn’t help but think of many of my colleagues who are definitely not as keen on computer programming as I am, and it got me wondering how I could help. So, that’s how Stuck on STEM has come about – as a place where I can provide ideas, lesson plans and resources to help you teach computer programming to your primary school students!
I’m so excited to be starting this new adventure and hope you will find the content I share here valuable and worthwhile. I’d love to hear about any ideas you may have, topics you’d like to see covered, or any other way I can help with your teaching!
